It is in this line that queer theory thrives. Queer theory is particularly correlated to gay and lesbianism. As a matter of fact, it is argued that the escalation of same sex relationships backbone of queer theory. According to the theory, gender is not fixed, and has no bearing in what we are. It opposes the aspect of having a collective opinion or conclusion about women or any other group granted that there are other elements that determine identity. Queer theory suggests that there is no strict demarcation between females and males. In other words, sexuality exists in a continuum in which every person has a different preference; some for same sexes others for opposite. Queer theory is the latest transformation in the approaches to the study of women and gender. It emphasizes on the fact that sexuality is characterized by shifting boundaries and cultural constructions, which depend on historical and cultural context (Stryker 212). Just like queer theory, transgender individuals also experiences mismatch on gender expression and identity. It is an umbrella term that means incorporation of both male and female identity. Transgender people can have any sexual orientation. Sometimes transgender people may feel that their natural anatomies were a mistake and may seek to change through surgeries. Transgender can be considered as an internal experience that forms ones perception of herself/himself (Stryker 213). The current society is full of people driven by queer theory and transgender.
